Colossal Cave Adventure is a text-based video game developed by Will Crowther and Don Woods in 1976. It was the first interactive fiction game, predating games like Zork and The Hobbit. The objective of the game is to explore a fictionalized version of the Mammoth Cave system in Kentucky. Players interact with their environment through typing commands such as "look" or "go north". As they progress through the game, players can collect items, solve puzzles, and score points while uncovering secrets hidden throughout the cave.

The original version of Colossal Cave Adventure was released on DEC PDP-10 and VAX computers using TECO coding language. However, it has since been ported to many other platforms including PC DOS systems and various mobile devices. Despite its age, the game still remains popular with gamers due to its clever writing and engaging puzzles. In recent years, it has even gained cult status for its influence on modern gaming culture; in 2015 an iOS version was released featuring updated graphics that paid homage to classic 8-bit games from the 80s.
